Career Progression Summary
- My Career began as a SONAR Communications Engineer for G.E. Aerospace on a secret clearance Naval defense project.
- This was followed by R&D work on DirecTV while earning my masters degree. The degree was a unique tri-modal venture between Boston University, MIT and Sarnoff/SRI Research Labs in Princeton, NJ. The coursework component of my degree was performed at Boston University; while my applied-thesis research in the field of Digital Signal Processing were performed at BU and at MIT’s Media Lab when special equipment was needed; and finally summer months were spent alongside researchers at Sarnoff Labs, where I validated my thesis research against their DirecTV R&D work.
- Outsourcing of the electronics industry forced a career pivot to enterprise-IT architecture, where with increasing breadth, depth and responsibility, I navigated my roles along Information Technology, Business-IT Strategy / Advisory and Optimization roles. These began while working as Sun Microsystems‘ lead architect in the NYC/Tri-State GEO, where I would help their enterprise clients plan, prioritize, procure and deliver high stakes multi-million platforms. Four years later, I would continue these full-cycle roles under my own consultancy, Prismalytics.
- I departed SUN MICROSYSTEMS to found Prismalytics (formed originally as Rensselaer Technology Group), where I’ve been principal consultant to Fortune-500’s biggest brands on their mission-critical projects. As with SUN, successful outcomes span the major verticals, including: Financial Services; Pharmaceuticals, CableTV, Media & Entertainment; Telecommunications; Securities Exchanges and Commodities Exchanges. Projects — now numbering in the dozens — were diverse and include: Investment Bank Trading Floor Systems Design • Data Center Acquisition, Architecture and Migrations • Backend Video-On-Demand Cable TV Systems Design • Artificial Intelligence-based Recommendation Systems • Business Continuity & Disaster Recovery SAN Architectures • Real-Time Trade-Stream Complex Event Platforms Architectures • Data Engineering; and more.
Over a period that has seen unprecedented and near-continuous change in technologies, tools, and trends; I credit this sustained success to hard work and to adopting, adapting, and faithfully applying the time-tested best practices and playbooks I learned during the many marquee engagements while at Sun Microsystems and beyond.
